Lorena Kuchenbecker found her flow

Qualification/s: Bachelor of Social Sciences, The University of Waikato

Lorena completed a work-integrated learning experience at Tauranga City Council where she researched international policies on green roofs and provided a recommendation report on how the Council could best implement this initiative in Tauranga.

“Being a practical learner, the hands-on experience during my work-integrated learning paper was very valuable. Working for a council and being welcomed as a student employee provided meaningful insights and a better understanding of the working world. I was encouraged by my supervisor to talk to different people and different teams which helped me understand the range of roles that are out there in the areas I’m interested in. Through this, I gained many networking opportunities and connections that helped me learn more about what I can do in this field once I graduate, and helped me gain the summer internship I have now at the Council.”
